Street Division Frequently Asked Questions

 

The City has grown tremendously over the past 10 years. As of 2009, approximately 366 lane miles of streets are maintained by the City of Wentzville. To efficiently clear snow, the City has 14 trucks equipped with plows and salt spreaders.

 

 

 

The City CANNOT plow privately-owned streets. Residents and business owners are required to keep their own driveways, sidewalks and private streets clear of ice and snow.

 

 

 

If no off-street parking is available, it is strongly recommended that you and your neighbors park along one side of the road, only. If snowplow crews feel they can't safely get to your street because of parked vehicles or other obstructions, no service will be provided.

 

 

 

Clearing City streets of snow requires pushing (plowing) snow from the center of the street to the edges. As a result, additional snow is deposited at the end of your driveway.

 

If you can't wait until plows have cleared your street before cleaning your driveway, here's help:  clear snow from the end of your driveway and curb, particularly on the left side, to allow snow discharged from plows to accumulate there.

 

 

 

If your mailbox or landscaping is damaged by a snowplow, please contact the City's Street Division for repairs or replacements. Because Wentzville code prohibits basketball goals and other obstructions from the City's public right-ow-way (mid-street to about 1 foot beyond sidewalks), the City will NOT pay for any damage.

 

 

 

Call 9-1-1 only in life-threatening emergencies; the dispatcher will contact the Wentzville Street Division should an emergency vehicle need access to a snow or ice-covered street.
