The City of Wentzville has an ordinance outlying guidelines for keeping animals which are inherently dangerous or destructive such as pit bull dogs and wild animals. Under this guideline, if you have a pit bull, it must be registered with the City. Below are the following steps to ensure that you are in compliance with this ordinance.
1. Print the pit bull registration form to the right or obtain a copy from City Hall, located at 310 W. Pearce Blvd., Wentzville, MO 63385. Hours of operation are: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On evenings of Board of Aldermen meetings, City Hall is open 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. which is normally on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.
2. Once you complete the upper portion of the form, contact the Wentzville Police Department Animal Control Unit at 636-639-2104 and have them respond to your residence to conduct an on-site inspection. After the inspection, the Animal Control Officer will document on your form whether you are or are not in compliance.
3. If in compliance, you will then need to report to City Hall and provide to the City Clerk the following information before the registration is complete:
- Liability insurance coverage in the amount of $50,000 for the ownership, maintenance or keeping of such animal.
- Proof of rabies vaccination.
- Two (2) photos of the animal.
