The Wentzville Water Department currently consists of one ground storage tank and two water towers. In 1967 Tower Four with a 300,000-gallon capacity was built at East Pearce Boulevard. Preparation for the General Motors Plant began in 1980 with the construction of the two million-gallon GM Ground Storage Tank. Tower One located near the Parkway has one million gallon capacity and was built in 1996 to support the growth of the area. A new 2 million gallon water tower is under construction within Rotary Park located on West Meyer. The new water tower is scheduled to be on-line in the spring of 2007. Congruent with the storage structures are over 200 miles of water main, over 1700 fire hydrants, and in excess of 9000 water meters.

National Drinking Water Week
Drinking Water Week is celebrated throughout the United States during the first full week of May each year. This observance provides a great opportunity for utilities to educate the public on how they get their drinking water (reservoirs and groundwater), how it reaches their homes (distribution systems), how public water systems ensure the quality of their water (source protection, treatment, and testing), and how we can all help to make sure we have enough water for everyone (water conservation).
For a decade the Wentzville Water Dept. has celebrated Drinking Water Week annually with an education program and scholarship contest. All fifth grade students in the City of Wentzville receive education packages. College bound seniors of Timberland and Holt High Schools are invited to compete in the Fire Hydrant Painting Contest. One student from each school will be awarded a $1000 scholarship to assist pursuance of higher education. All competing entries are displayed at Water Tower Four (802 E. Pearce Blvd) throughout May. The two winners are displayed in the Public Works lobby (200 E. Fourth) for one year.
