Detective Bureau
The Criminal Investigations unit is a function of the Bureau of Administration. The investigative unit reports directly to the Chief of Police and is staffed by (from left to right) Detective Sergeant Harry Belcher, and two Detective grade investigators John Zumwalt and Bobby Magers . The Detective Sergeant is responsible for ensuring the conduct of timely and intensive investigations into reported criminal acts, and serving as a supervisory liaison to an undercover Wentzville officer assigned to the Multi-jurisdictional Task Force (MEG).
The Wentzville Police Department Detective Bureau is responsible for the follow-up investigations of felony and serious misdemeanors crimes. The Bureau is staffed by 3 detectives two of which are assigned to crimes against persons and property. Each detective is trained in Medicolegal Death Investigation, and are active members in the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad.
In addition to investing criminal activities our detective bureau is tasked with processing and maintaining custody of evidence and recovered lost property. To retrieve items held as evidence or lost property contact the Wentzville Police Department Detective Bureau. (636)327-5105.
The police department also takes part in the St. Charles County Multi-Jurisdictional Enforcement Group and has a permanently assigned detective that actively investigates reports of narcotic manufacturing, distribution and use. To report such a crime in or around the St. Charles County area call:
