Department Values/About Us
"The purpose of the Wentzville Police Department is to uphold the law fairly and firmly; to prevent crime; to pursue and bring to justice those who break the law; to keep the Peace; to protect help and reassure people in Wentzville; and to be seen to do all this with integrity, common sense and sound judgment.
We must strive to reduce the fears of the public and, so far as we can, to reflect their priorities in the action we take. We must respond to well-founded criticism with willingness to change."
ABOUT US:
We at the Wentzville Police Department are actively working to provide professional services and protection needs to
our community. As challenges are actively met, new and exciting things happen in the community and the future looks
bright.
As the City of Wentzville continues to grow, so does our police department. In 1993 officers responded to 7,263 calls for service. This number drastically increased in 1994 and each year continues to do so. In 1994 Wentzville Officers answered 15,820 calls which increased in 1995 to 16,652 calls. In recognizing the changes in our community, the police department began actively recruiting more officers and staff personnel. However, 22, 626 calls for service were still
answered in 1996. With the hiring of more officers, the Wentzville Police Department was able to implement community
based programs. In doing this, the calls for service dropped to 14,711 in 2000.
Wentzville prides itself to be one of the fastest growing communities in the St. Charles County, area. Our 33 officers and 2 park rangers patrol 42 square miles and serve approximately 8, 500 residents and numerous businesses.
