Parks Master Plan
The Mayor and Board of Alderman and the Parks and Recreation staff are working diligently to fulfill the goals and plans outlined in the parks master plan. Since the completion of this plan, Peruque Valley Park and Heartland Park,, have been purchased and are currently being studied to determine the best uses of the land to meet the overall recommendations outlined in the Master Plan.
The City currently has two pieces of park land that have been identified as top priority for future development of the parks system. Peruque Valley Park is located on South Point Prairie Road; Heartland is located just behind the Dierbergs Plaza. Beginning in the summer of 2008, a consulting firm was hired to master plan these two pieces of property. The eight month process included input from citizens, city officials and parks and recreation staff. The site plans below are a result of the master plan process. At this time, the city is considering funding mechanisms to complete the projects.
