Park Planning & Development

Wentzville's Park and Recreation staff are working hard to keep up the growth in our community.  The Park Division, in concert with the Parks and Recreation Administration Team, is responsible for evaluating, planning, and developing various types of parks, trails, and open spaces projects within the city.  Additionally, the Park Division helps create planning documents, such as the Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan and the Citywide Trails Master Plan.  Park development projects range in scale from design and installation of playground equipment to master planning or developing large parcels of parkland.  These projects are funded from the Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement Program using a number of sources of revenue.

In August 3, 2010, Wentzville residents chose to impose a half cent retail sales tax dedicated to Parks and Recreation as authorized by Missouri Revised Statutes Chapter 644, Section 644.032.  The passage of the Parks and Recreation half-cent sales tax has provided the City with the opportunity to develop three new park sites (Splash Station Aquatic Center, Heartland Park, and Peruque Valley Park) to better suit the recreation needs and demands of the community.
