Downtown Redevelopment Plan
In November of 2008, the City commissioned George Butler and Associates (GBA) to assist in the development of a Downtown Redevelopment Plan for the Village Center. The Plan was finished and adopted by the Board of Aldermen in May of 2009. In January, 2010, the Planning and Zoning Commission formally adopted the Plan as a part of the City's Comprehensive Plan.
This Plan will guide the City as redevelopment occurs in the Village Center area. It includes design elements for new and expanding businesses, streetscape design, and public amenities. It also addresses future expansion infrastructure needs of the downtown area.
Here you will find the Plan broken-down by section. If you want additional information contact the Economic Development Department.
Some of these files are very large, especially Parts 4, 5, and 6, and might load slowly. Please be patient while they download.
A hardcopy of the Plan can be reviewed at City Hall or Public Works during normal business hours.
