A Residential Occupancy Permit is required whenever there is a change in occupancy of a property that is being rented or leased. The occupancy permit may be obtained by the owner/landlord or the leasor prior to possession. The permit requires an inspection at which time the premises will be checked for any life safety and/or code issues that may be present. An approved occupancy permit is valid for 90 days or until the premises are occupied, whichever first occurs.
Commercial Occupancies are required any time a property is changing occupants or ownership. It is required whether the property is being purchased or leased/rented.
Permit fees vary by type (commercial or residential) dependent upon an existing or new occupancy. Please review the following information and Fee Table page regarding the occupancy permit.
