Solid Waste & Recycling Information

  The City of Wentzville contracts residential waste, recycling and yard waste collection through Wilson Waste Systems. This has enabled the City to provide a high level of service for all households at lower rates. Sanitation costs are consolidated with the water and sewer service monthly bill.

Beginning January 3, 2011 all sanitation items (trash, recycling, and yard waste) will be picked up by zone.  See the pickup schedule in the right-hand column to find pick up days by subdivision or street.

The City offers once a week trash pickup, once a week recycling pickup and seasonal once a week yard waste pick up.  All mentioned items will be placed out on the same day in their own separate containers.  Items should be placed at the curb by 6:00 AM on your scheduled pick up day.

Yard Waste Pick Up Service
Yard waste pickup will resume on March 1st  and continue through the last week of December.   Residents who have not cancelled their service and were receiving the service when it ended last year will automatically be put back on the list to receive the service in 2012.  Residents who opt to begin the service on March 1 will not be allowed to cancel the service during the remainder of the year.  Residents will be offered the one time bags at $3.50 each for the season.  Please contact the Public Works Department at (636) 639-2049 to schedule your bags for pick up.

The City has increased its pickup schedule to five days.  Residents who receive yard waste pickup service must put their yard waste out on the same day they put their regular trash and recycling items out for pickup.  All yard waste items should be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. of their trash day.

Residents may place their yard waste in brown recyclable bags or in a definably labeled "YARD WASTE ONLY" trash can.  Residents are encouraged to use the proper waste containers.  Stickers are available to residents, free of charge, upon request.  Residents may also rent a cart for yard waste for an additional fee. 

Setup Solid Waste Service
You can set up solid waste service along with water and sewer service on the Application for Residential Occupancy and Utility Services or you can contact Public Works at 636-639-2049 or Utility Services at 636-639-2155. 

Please note all required Residential Occupancy Inspections or Final inspections for new construction must be completed prior to occupying any property. There is also a deposit required when setting up a utility account.

Change Solid Waste Service
To change sanitation services for your address please call Utiltiy Services at 636-639-2155, Public Works at 636-639-2049 or submit a solid waste change form. 

Beginning May 1, 2012 the rates are as follows:

• Sanitation once weekly - $12.19/month

  • This is standard for all residents and includes recycling.

  • A recycle cart is provided at no additional cost to you. 
    

• Sanitation Senior Rate (62 or older) - $11.69/month 
  

• Second weekly Sanitation pick up - $10.25/month 

• Yard Waste (March - December) - $8.00/month (optional) 

• Solid Waste Containers (96 gallon on wheels) - $3.00/month (optional) 

• Yard Waste Containers (96 gallon on wheels) - $3.00/month (optional)
  

• Additional Recycling Cart (65-gallon on wheels) - $2.00/month (optional)
  

• Large Item Pick Up - $16.75 base price (large items like sleeper-sofas, recliner sofas, very large TVs may be charged at double the price).  An exact amount cannot be guaranteed until items are picked up.
